Welcome to Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School and this year’s version of Catholic education that began in 1857. From the school’s humble beginnings in the back room of St. Francis Xavier’s rectory, to the establishment of St. Francis Xavier School, to our consolidation to a central school called Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School (PCES) in 1970, we are alive and well in the 2009-2010 school year. Serving five local parishes, we provide Catholic education for students from 3 year old preschool to sixth grade. Our 3 year old, 4 year old and kindergarten students are housed in a renovated convent on Fairview Avenue which provides a beautiful and private setting for our younger students. Students then transition to our main building on Juliana Street for grades 1-6. With our total enrollment between 175-220 students, we have a very favorable student/teacher ratio. Our various class size limitations also create a positive working environment in our individual classrooms. We provide a normal curriculum based on West Virginia standards of education. We also provide individual assistance through our Title I/IRA teacher for special needs. Our religion curriculum is provided through the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston educational standards.
