Peace Builders

In 2004, PCES instituted the Peace Builders Program. This program is designed to promote respect and character growth by all students. Through our Peace Builder pledge and activities, we want to provide peaceful learning environments where everyone increases the peace through positive and respectful behavior.

The Program centers on 5 Peace Principles: Praise People, Give Up Put Downs, Seek Wise People, Notice Hurts, and Right Wrongs. Our goal is for students to use these principles as a guide to help them promote peace among each other. Since its initiation into our school, we have seen a dramatic decrease in the number of noon room violations due to disrespectful classroom and cafeteria behavior. We also witness students modeling the 5 principles.

This school year we will use the 5 Peace Principles to teach children the Fruits of the Spirit. Each month we will correlate a peace principle with a Fruit of the Spirit. October: Fruit of the Spirit is Faithfulness and the Peace Priniciple is Seek Wise People.
